William B's Personality Type Results

I used to score INTJ, but I think P actually fits me more these days. I think I can even see the change in my personality. Also, I get a kick out of Data as one of the sample characters! :D

Just took the test. I'm a ISTJ. I think the quiz is trying to make fun of me. My fictional counterparts are Darth Vader, Cliff Clavin (Cheers), Eeyore (Winnie the Pooh), and Bruce Wayne (Batman). (I'm trying to take solace in that I'm like Harry Truman...but apparently also like George H.W. Bush.)

Whateves, I can cop to the fact that I'm quite judgmental- more judgey than you. I'd consider being called Data-like as a compliment, machine or not.

LOL. What a wacky set of characters. I think that Bruce Wayne is a compliment. Depends on the version, I guess. I'm not sure who is the bigger insult -- Vader or Cliff.

I think that J and P actually don't mean "judgmental" and "perceptive of others' feelings" -- I mean, I used to think that, but I gather that it has more to do with an abstract descriptor of how one relates to the outside world, in a way that I have basically never understood clearly and still can't explain. Ha?

Data is DEFINITELY a compliment.

You just keep on being your badass judgey self. I trust your judgment.

Also I just got INFP for the first time, which means that I, too, have moved from being a J to a P. Cool! We're growing and changing :).

Hm, re: The Dark Age, I definitely love that Buffy is there for Giles at the end, after he's been rebuffed by Jenny. It's funny, I'm skipping around in my rewatch, and I was just watching Lies My Parents Tell Me, which is of course one of the absolute low points in the Giles and Buffy relationship, so it's nice to get back to this point where they're building something really meaningful together. In S2, they really are both isolated in the same way, whereas starting in S3 (especially once Willow agrees to go to UC Sunnydale), Buffy really develops quite the support system, in which Giles is but a backup dancer.

Specific to sobriety, Giles is actually a pretty bad drinker, when he drinks. He always does it to regress or avoid life. Is it at some point in S5 when he says he's drinking coffee because "tea is soothing and I wish to be tense"? One really can manipulate oneself quite significantly with just relatively soft beverages, let alone alcohol or dark magic!

Great points! I think some of the difference between The Dark Age and LMPTM is also a matter of contrition -- like, Giles obviously feels really bad in TDA, whereas in LMPTM is still harping on the same topic and only reluctantly agrees to accept Buffy's *authority* on the Spike subject but not really her reasons.

And yes to Giles' drinking. The "tea is soothing, I wish to be tense" line is in Graduation Day Part 1, IIRC. It reminds me too of how Giles has all these affectations, including cleaning his glasses, as a way of maintaining composure and control.

I'm thinking about how goal-oriented we humans are as a rule, and so we do work to put ourselves in the right emotional state to accomplish our proximate goal, which is sometimes even a rationalization for putting us in the emotional state we want to be in. With the exception of, like, Bronze-hanging-out early season four, Giles virtually never actually drinks for ostensibly good reasons -- I like how he reaches for the bottle in The Yoko Factor without even thinking about it.

I've gotten the same answer every time I've taken an MBTI test. I was skeptical at first but after, like, four in as many years I've accepted that there's probably some truth to the profile for me. YOU AND ME AND TOBY ZIEGLER AND FELIX GAETA, so, obviously the best type.

I'm an INFP, which makes me a "dreamer." Anne of Green Gables is one, which is appropriate because when I was six I wanted to grow up to be Anne of Green Gables, but I'm a little put off that they list E.T. as also being one. I don't think E.T. articulated him/her/itself (I know we think of it being a "him," but are we sure about how gender works in its species?) enough to give a proper Meyers-Briggs analysis. "Be Good" doesn't lend much to personality tests.

And I actually laughed when I read you're supposed to be an engineer.
