So this came out long so I'm splitting it into two parts.  Enjoy!
Usual disclaimers. SPOILER WARNING.   Again, not 100% edited, so if I say something in here that is probably wrong, ask!

I feel like I’ll always have more to say, because this issue helped solidify some thoughts I’ve had about several of the arcs. But, well, it’s late, and the new issue is coming out in a few days. So consider my previous 37 post to be the Season Eight Buffy post, and this one to be the post about this issue.  Also, this may not be coherent.  Sorry!

I’m heading to a conference on Thursday, and have to prepare a talk for then (well, technically, Friday). So I might well be too busy to write anything substantial on 38, assuming of course I even process it quickly enough, before getting back on about Sunday or so. I am still going to read it on Wednesday though.

OK, I finally got the issue.  And I read it over multiple times.  Here are some thoughts.  Sorry they run a bit long.  By the way, yes, I know you probably hate it—I’m not quite sure what I think myself.  But there’s a lot to chew on here.

Friend-locked (for now) because I ramble on, and I don't think I am going to share this with all of fandom (not that they'll see it!) just yet.  ETA: OK, unfriendlocked, I think I've stewed over the night and ready for what comes.  Will respond to comments soon!

ETA: Shipperx below pointed out that Son of Sam was the killer, not the killed.  Oops!

Spoilers for Buffy 8.36 and all of BtVS, Angel, etc. )

So my lovely gf Rosemary and I started watching Angel a few months ago.  I've seen the whole thing many times, but this is her first time; she's watched all of BtVS, on my suggestion, though only once.  (We weren't dating when she watched it, and were living in different cities, so I didn't watch it with her except a few episodes here and there and about half of season seven.)  We're actually fairly far into it--midway through season two--but I've had all these thoughts and some of them I think are maybe worth sharing.  In principle I'd like to go through episode-by-episode, as I already have some notes I've made on most of the shows, but we'll see where this takes me/us (and also: many of the episodes are boring!).  So I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this, and plus my life is getting busy and stressful these days.  But you know, hopefully this is a fun outlet for me and hopefully someone enjoys reading it.

These are admittedly somewhat culled together from lots of other sources; this is me absorbing, not me trying to copy, but I should admit a debt right away to the dozens of great pieces of meta I've read over the years.  I think a lot of my view of Angel the character comes from macha at Tea at the Ford and her writing on the "three protagonists of the verse," though, and so I'm going to give a special shout-out.

So let's talk season one.  Not my favourite year: in fact it's my least favourite televised Buffyverse season.  But it has a pretty good pilot (and it also has the Faith episodes and the emergence of Tim Minear as a creative force-to-be-reckoned with), so I (hopefully) have a few things to say.  SPOILERS FOR ALL OF ATS AND BTVS TV SERIES.
